XI’AN FAMOUS FOODS

Xi’an Famous Foods is the pioneering restaurant brand that introduced the cuisine of Xi’an and China’s Shaanxi Province to the United States. Founded in 2005 and led by James Beard Award nominee Jason Wang, the family-owned company has grown from a humble 200-square-foot basement stall in Flushing’s Golden Shopping Mall into one of the country’s most influential regional Chinese restaurant brands. The brand was championed by the late Anthony Bourdain, who helped introduce its bold flavors to a national audience.

Specializing in the distinctive cuisine of Xi’an—Jason Wang’s hometown—and the surrounding Shaanxi Province in northwestern China, Xi’an Famous Foods celebrates a culinary tradition that was virtually unknown in America when it first opened, while showcasing unique family interpretations of the cuisine that cannot even be found in Xi’an itself. Built on more than four generations of family recipes, the menu features signature dishes including refreshing liang pi (cold-skin noodles), chewy hand-ripped biang biang noodles, simple-yet-complex stewed pork burgers (rou jia mo), plump-yet-delicate boiled dumplings, and other authentic regional specialties, all prepared with uncompromising attention to tradition, technique, and flavor.

Today, Xi’an Famous Foods operates a growing network of restaurants across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, with continued expansion into the greater Washington, D.C. area, Philadelphia, and Boston. Xi’an Famous Foods has earned widespread acclaim from national media and cultivated a devoted cult following by pairing uncompromising authenticity with the consistency, hospitality, and operational excellence of a world-class restaurant organization.
